With nearly 14,000 friends on Myspace this powerpop trio from Portsmouth are on the way up. Signed to Truu Music/Asylum Records (a branch of Warner Music), big things could be expected of this band. They say their influence is drawn from the likes of Weezer! Take a look for yourselves...

WISERVICE
Wiservice are another band to hail from Portsmouth, who blend dub with reggae and ska, with the help of a human beat box and a turntable. Having seen them live a few times myself their performances do get the crowd buzzing, and are gradually generating a large fanbase.

THE STRANGE DEATH OF LIBERAL ENGLAND
As probably the best band to hail from Portsmouth in a long while TSDOLE are a young energetic quintet, who have spent the summer touring the country and also featuring on the festival circuit. They have attracted rave reviews from Q, Uncut and NME, and have been compared to the likes of Arcade Fire; yet when I spoke to band member Will Charlton a while back he didn't seem to like the idea of being an "Arcade Fire soundalike". Whatever the case you decide; if you haven't already heard their anthemic tunes check them out at:
